ENJOY THE GAME

All students will be participating in the Character Education Based- Enjoy the Game program. This program teaches and encourages our students to respect themselves and others while also holding each student accountable for demonstrating cooperation, self-control, fair play, and doing the right thing.

For those of you that are not familiar with the program, here is a brief overview of what is taught. Please encourage all students to follow these principles throughout the year to create a positive and friendly school environment.

We will be doing a weekly drawing, giving prizes away to participants that are demonstrating these principles. Students will be awarded “Gotcha coupons” and will be entered in the drawing.

Lesson 1: Respect for your peers and teammates

During this lesson the students learn the importance of respecting each other. This is important not only in P.E., but throughout the school. The students learned the importance of TEAM (Treat Everyone As Myself). Please emphasize this with your students throughout the year.

Lesson 2: Respect all your Teachers and Coaches

This lesson focused on the important roles that teachers and coaches play in the lives of the students. The lesson explained how we are there to help the students with any needs they may have. Students should be encouraged to trust the judgment of the teachers/coaches and choose an appropriate time to talk with them if there is a problem.

Lesson 3: Respect the Officials and the Rules

The focus in this lesson was to teach the students to exhibit proper behavior to those in charge, and to follow the rules all of the time! This is important because during many of the activities, the students are the officials during the game and make a lot of their own calls. If there is a dispute, the students should paper, rock, scissors to solve the problem.

Lesson 4: Do the Right Thing

This is the last lesson of the program and is designed to show students that they have control over their own actions. Respect yourself enough to respect others.
