Brentwood Elementary Guidance Program

Classroom guidance lessons are presented twice a month. The curriculum is organized around three major areas: Knowledge of Self and Others, Career Exploration, and Educational Development. Topics include listening and study skills, decision making, friendship skills, and recognizing and expressing feelings appropriately. Lessons and discussions are held often to address bullying and teasing.

Small group counseling is offered to respond to students' identified interests or needs. Planned and structured activities to develop skills and increase knowledge are part of the groups' sessions. Time is also allotted to discuss specific concerns and problem solve. Groups can address family change, ADHD, social and friendship skills, assertiveness, and self-control. Please contact me if you have a specific concern.

Individual children are seen by the counselor on an as needed basis. Behavior plans, a family crisis, conflict resolution, and specific social or emotional issues may be best addressed privately.
