2012-2013 Room Parents

Hello Room Parents!

This year I will be your liaison to the McGrath Elementary PTO.  As a room parent, we hope you will attend the monthly PTO meetings so that you will be up to date on all the events of the school and can help spread the word to the parents in your class.

At McGrath, the main role of the Room Parent is to facilitate classroom parties including scheduling parent volunteers if needed, communicating with other parent volunteers and your classroom teacher, running the parties and cleaning-up. The secondary responsibility for Room Parents is to plan, communicate, and facilitate the McGrath school event that is assigned to your grade.

ROOM PARTY DATES:

Halloween Party October 31st (1/2 school day)– Parade begins at 11:00 AM; classroom party from 11:15-noon
Holiday Party: December 21st (1/2 School day)– Classroom Party from 11:15-noon; we suggest to include lunch (i.e. Pizza, etc.) and then activities and dessert.
Valentine's Party: February 14th– Classroom Party from 2:00 - 2:45. Generally just snacks are served

Please review the below event that your grade is responsible for holding this year.  More detailed information will follow.

Kindergarten: Principal Appreciation Day (Spring) & Holiday Treats for Teachers
1st: 1 Family Reading Night & 1 Movie Night (PTO will assist)
2nd: Fall Teacher's Buffet
3rd: Holiday Sing
4th: Spring Teacher Buffet
5th: Dare Graduation

We will be collecting $10 per student to fund all your classroom parties, so if you have 15 students in your class you budget is $150 for the school year.  Please use the tax exempt form for any purchases; I will drop off the form with the money in October.  Remember to keep all receipts and turn them in to me in the folder that I will provide at the end of the school year.

We appreciate your commitment to the school and for volunteering for this important job.  If you have any questions, please contact me, I'm happy to help.  I look forward to working with you, and any suggestions to make your job easier.

Thanks,
Laure Turner
